The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), is the leading technical and scientific public body of the Italian National Health Service. Its activities include research, control, training and consultation in the interest of public health protection. ISS coordinates the ASD Baby siblings project (NIDA) and the National Observatory for monitoring ASD. This institution participates with The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) – Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (IRIB). CNR is the main governmental research institution in Italy. ISS and CNR-IRIB host a Research Unit for neurodevelopmental disorders with advanced instrumentation for clinical research: biomedical sensors and micro-systems, i.e. multi-parametric, pervasive, ergonomic, portable, wireless, unobtrusive wearable and able to monitor physiological, behavioral, emotional and environmental parameters; technological tools for intelligent processing of biomedical signal using advanced methods of signal processing algorithms and deep learning strategies to extract physiological and psycho-physiological information.
Maria Luisa Scattoni, PhD, Neurobiologist and ESR6 coordinator will train and supervise ESR6 on early detection of ASD together with Giovanni Pioggia, engineer, Head of theCNR-IRIB Messina Unit, an internationally recognized specialist in the field of intelligent systems for health involving artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning and bioengineering applied to neuroscience.
