My project explores the interactions between infants’ social development and acquisition of language. I compare the developmental trajectories of typically developing infants to those who have a higher likelihood of receiving a diagnosis of autism. To do so I work with two longitudinal datasets: one population-based dataset known as the Youth-cohort and Eurosibs, a European dataset testing infants who have an increased likelihood of developing autism. The overarching aim of my project is to formulate clearer links between the social and linguistic development of both typically and atypically developing infants in the first year of life.
