The Department of Psychology sits within the School of the Biological Sciences and is located on two sites in central Cambridge. The Department’s primary objectives are to provide world-class research and teaching in psychology and cognate disciplines, which is characterised by its multidisciplinary and collaborative approach. In the current QS World University Rankings, Cambridge is placed third in the world for psychology.

Mark Johnson is the Chair of Psychology at the University of Cambridge and has led a number of landmark ASD and infancy projects over the last two decades at Birkbeck before taking up this post last year. Sarah Lloyd-Fox is lead psychologist on an international longitudinal project from 0 – 24 mths in The Gambia and UK, and Head of fNIRS Research at CBCD, Cambridge with over 10 years expertise in this field.
